4 DAYS LANDSCAPE & CULTURE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

For 60 million years; strong winds, rain and human beings shaped this amazing volcanic landscape in a region called Cappadocia, in inner Anatolia, Turkey.This landscape, may be the most bizarre but also the most spectacular built environment in Turkey. We will have chance to explore and photograph these beautiful rock formations, pillars also known as “fairy chimneys” by locals, the underground cities, labyrinths and the churches carved in rocks which attracted Christian pilgrims for ages…

During the Cappadocia Photography Tour (workshop), we will discover this unique region towards southern towns in Cappadocia. You will enjoy walking in the strange rocky valleys and wander around while photographing this lunar landscape. Air ballooning (optional) will be another highlights of this trip as it will give you chance to photograph the painterly landscapes from above.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
Tuition do not include :
International flights and flights to the airports in the workshop area

Personal expenses like souvenirs, bar beverages, laundry, insurance (travel, medical, cancellation, which are all recommended)

Hot Air Balloon tour for aerial photography opportunities (1 – 1.15 hour)

Enterance fees of open air museums and other museums incase we plan to add these attractions to our programme.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Digital SLR camera

Tripod (Preferably a stable one)

Neutral density graduated filters (if you have any)

A notebook or ipad for file transfers, photography reviews and for your own post processing

Hat, suitable shoes for trekking/walking & rainproof coat
Except your camera, the above items are not mandatory but it is for your good and benefit if you consider them as a must. We strongly suggest to bring tripod for low light conditions and long exposure photos.
FITNESS LEVEL & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Moderate physical activities required. There will be some short trekking over uneven terrain and some long 1-2 Km/1-1,5 miles long trekking and walking over uneven and even terrain.
WORKSHOP LANGUAGES
The major languages during the workshop will be English.

WORKSHOP PROGRAM & GALLERY

DAY 1

Avanos

We will arrive in Avanos town of Nevsehir City, the base of our workshop where we will stay and spend our time mostly. After checking into our hotel we will meet and will have a welcome dinner to get to know each other. We will have a talk about the region, the culture, our programme and our expectations in this photography workshop and share the basic guidelines of the workshop.

DAY 2

Avanos – Uçhisar & Pigeons Valley (Çat /Güvercinlik)

We will start our first day in Avanos and visit the cave museum of the world wide known ceramic master Çeç Galip and then head towards one of his potteries and will have chance to photography the pottery making in its authentic place. Our next stop is Uçhisar town, Uçhisar peak and surrounding valleys. Uçhisar is 7 km far from the Nevşehir city center. The peak of Uçhisar Castle is also the most panaromic watching point of the region. We will hike through the amazing landscape of Gemildere Valley and Güvercinlik Vadisi(Pigeons Valley) to the rocky crop of Uçhisar for a panaromic view.

DAY 3

Göreme – Love Valley (Bağlıdere) Çat Valley

We are planning to start our day early in the morning with a hot air balloon tour. The departure point and the time for the balloon tours usually determined by the wheather and the condition of the wind. But our aim is to start it as early as possible to catch the sunrise and create some fantastic aerial photography opportunities while enjoying the view of this amazing landscapes from the air. After our balloon tour our next stop will be visiting Bağlıdere Valley also know as Love Valley because of the shape of the fairy chimneys in this valley. Depending on our time we will see Çat Valley, off the beaten track village of Çat. We’ll hike down in a U-shape valley (4 hours of walking). The cliffs that line these valleys are full of pigeon homes several storeys high carved out of the rocks, some decorated with paintings to attract the pigeons. Their droppings were used and sold as a fertiliser. We can arrange an optional Turkish Night for the ones who like to experience Turkish folk dance show with delicious food and dinner.

DAY 4

Meskendir – Kızılçukur –Kılıçlar- Güllüdere

In our last day in Cappadocia, we will visit some of the most spectacular landscapes of the area in the valleys of Kiliçlar, Meskendir, Kizilçukur and Güllüdere until the village of Çavuşin where we’ll explore a cliff full of rock houses. After having our lunch and enjoying our tea we will conduct our final discussions, review our photographs , trade our contact information and get ready for our transfers for our return flights.
